Propagating Egyptian Walking Onions at Stony Oasis

Growing Egyptian Walking Onions at Stony Oasis Farms
I have for a few years attempted to get Egyptian Walking Onions established up on my Stony Oasis property. But alas they do not seem to 'take'. I am not sure why.
I am all about plants that can not only grow there...but thrive! And I want alternatives to vegetable garden plants.
The image above is a stand of them I found near an old homestead...so I will always have starts to easily get my hands on.
I plan to try yet again this year, only this time I will improve the soil in the spot I will make for them. I want a huge patch of them...
So, I will make a planting bed just for them, nurture them a bit, and see if they will enjoy walking there at some point.
As far as using them in cooking, boy they are very...very oniony! So a little can go a long ways. Do any of you have experience with them, I would love to hear your experience in a comment.

I have not yet tried them. Good luck with getting them going, it sounds like you have a great plan.
They are kinda cool, they make little onions on top, and have one in the ground...in the winter they fall over and the ones on top sprout and make new plants. I just age one of the top ones...would not take many to flavor a dish.
